Hydroxyethyl cellulose is used as a sizing agent in the textile industry and as an adhesive, thickener, emulsifier and stabilizer in the electronics and light industry sectors. It is a white to yellow fibrous or powdery solid. Hydroxyethyl cellulose is non-toxic and tasteless and belongs to non-ionic cellulose ethers. Due to the hydrophilic hydroxyethyl group in the molecule, it is easily soluble in cold and hot water. The pH value of its aqueous solution is 6.5~8.5 and it is heat-stable. HEC has different solubility depending on the degree of substitution. It is insoluble in most organic solvents. It has the properties of thickening, suspension, adhesion, emulsification, dispersion, and moisturizing. It can prepare solutions with different viscosity ranges.
